MiqaatHub

Faith, Time, and Technology. Beautifully Connected

In Development

MiqaatHub is a smart prayer-time and connected audio platform, being built as an independent product in the IoTOcean portfolio. It is aimed at mosques, Islamic centres, schools, workplaces and families who want the Adhan to be heard at the right time, in the right places, and who want to share Qur’an recitation through speakers they can manage from anywhere.

The problem

Prayer times change every day and differ from place to place. Keeping an Adhan system accurate usually means adjusting clocks or devices by hand, and a speaker that loses its settings or its connection simply stays silent. Sharing Qur’an recitation across several rooms or buildings often needs separate equipment for each one, configured on site. When something goes wrong, the people responsible are rarely technicians, and they should not need to be.

How MiqaatHub approaches it

MiqaatHub is designed around time and trust. Adhan scheduling is planned to follow accurate prayer times for each location, with schedules prepared in the cloud and synchronised to every speaker, so each device knows what to play and when even if its connection drops for a while. Qur’an radio streaming and an audio library are planned so that recitations can be chosen, organised and played on connected speakers.

Speakers are planned to be configured remotely, so volume, schedules and content can be adjusted without visiting each room. The hardware side is designed around Raspberry Pi and other embedded devices, keeping the speakers simple, affordable and easy to replace.

Religious content is at the heart of MiqaatHub, and it is treated with respect and care. Accuracy of the Adhan schedule and respectful presentation of the Qur’an come before any other feature.

What is being built now

MiqaatHub is in development. The work in progress covers:

  • automated Adhan scheduling;
  • smart connected speakers;
  • Qur’an radio streaming;
  • audio library management;
  • remote speaker configuration;
  • Raspberry Pi and embedded-device integration;
  • cloud scheduling and synchronisation.

None of these capabilities is presented as finished yet. Progress will be shared in the IoTOcean Journal as the work moves forward. If you would like MiqaatHub for your community or home, get in touch.
