Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data the IoTOcean website at iotocean.com collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website only, not the products described on it.

IoTOcean.com is responsible for this website and for the personal data it collects (the data controller).

What we collect

We only collect personal data when you choose to send it to us through the contact form. The website has no user accounts for visitors, no newsletter, no comments, no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools.

The contact form

When you send a message through the contact page, the website stores it in its own database so that we can read and answer it. The message is not emailed or passed to another service. For each message the website stores:

  • your name;
  • your email address;
  • the topic or product you chose;
  • your message;
  • the date and time it was sent;
  • the address and title of the page it was sent from;
  • your IP address;
  • your browser’s user agent (the browser and device type it reports).

We use this information only to read your message, reply to you by email and keep a record of the conversation. We do not use it for marketing and we do not sell or share it.

Contact messages are kept for 6 months and then deleted.

Cookies

Visiting the website without logging in sets no cookies. The only cookies the website uses are the standard WordPress cookies for people who log in to manage the site, which keep them signed in and remember their editor settings. Visitors never need to log in.

Fonts and other third parties

The fonts used on this website are served from the website itself, so viewing a page does not send a request to Google Fonts or any other font service. The website uses no third-party analytics, advertising, embedded videos or social media widgets.

The Jetpack plugin is installed on the website but is not connected to WordPress.com, so it does not send visitor data to WordPress.com.

Server logs

Like most websites, the web server and the content delivery network that serves the site keep technical logs of requests, which include the IP address, the date and time, the page requested and the browser’s user agent. These logs are used only to keep the website running and secure, for example to block repeated failed login attempts.

The website is hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS) in the us-east-1 region (United States). Server and content delivery network logs are kept for 1 month.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete a message you sent. To do so, send a request through the contact form, choosing “General enquiry”, and include the email address you used. We will reply by email once the request has been handled.

Changes to this policy

If the website starts collecting other data, for example through a new form or an analytics tool, this policy will be updated before that happens. The date below shows when it last changed.
