Welcome to IoTOcean. This website is the new home of an independent technology brand that builds software for networks, connected devices and AI. It is also where we will share, openly and regularly, how that software is coming along.
This first article explains what IoTOcean is, introduces the six products we are working on, and sets out what you can expect from this journal.
What IoTOcean is
IoTOcean brings together networking, cloud infrastructure, edge computing, the Internet of Things and AI-powered software. Rather than one large platform, we build a portfolio of independent products. Each one focuses on a single, real problem and has its own users and its own roadmap.
What connects them is the way they are built. The people who run a system should be able to see it, understand it and control it, on infrastructure they choose. Security is part of the design from the first line, and we try to be clear about what works today and what is still being built.
The six products
All six products are in development. None of them is presented as finished, and the capabilities below are the work in progress, not features you can use today.
- MikroBrain is a management and automation platform for fleets of MikroTik routers. It is being built to bring fleet inventory, consistent configuration and private WireGuard connectivity between sites under one point of control.
- MiqaatHub is a prayer-time and connected audio platform. It is being designed to schedule the Adhan accurately for each location, stream Qur’an recitation and manage connected speakers remotely, with religious content treated with care and respect.
- FleetifAI is a platform for managing distributed Linux edge devices. The plan is to roll out Docker applications across a fleet, reach every device over secure WireGuard links, and supervise gateways remotely, with Flatcar Linux integration for devices that should change as little as possible.
- SawtifAI is an AI audio and video intelligence platform. The work in progress covers transcription, speaker identification and playback synchronised with the transcript, with translation and localisation to follow. Its most ambitious parts are treated as research, not promises.
- PXEfAI (formerly PXE Ocean) is a network provisioning platform. It is being built to install and prepare operating systems on servers, Linux gateways and edge devices over the network, with PXE and iPXE boot, reusable deployment profiles and rules that decide what each device receives.
- BACOcean is a virtual BACnet laboratory. It is being designed to simulate BACnet controllers, networks, Trend Logs and fault scenarios, so building automation software can be tested without physical controllers.
Each product has its own page on this site, showing its current status and how to follow its progress. When a product moves from one stage to the next, its page will say so.
Why build in the open
Software for networks, devices and AI is easier to trust when you can see how it is made. By sharing our progress as we go, we hope to hear early from the people these products are meant to help: network engineers, teams that look after devices in the field, mosques and schools, anyone who works with recorded speech, and developers of building automation software. Your questions and needs will shape what we build first.
What this journal will cover
The IoTOcean Journal is where that progress will be written down. Articles will fall into five categories:
- Engineering: how we design and build our systems, and the trade-offs behind them.
- Product Announcements: news about the products, such as a change of status.
- Development Updates: what has been built, tested or changed since the last update.
- Tutorials: practical guides on the technologies we work with.
- Behind the Scenes: how we work, plan and decide what comes next.
Updates about a single product are tagged with its name, so each product page can list the articles that concern it.
